Freshly graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Journalism and a minimum of experience in community newspapers, Dione hopped a plane to London where she landed a job with a small publishing company, Wild Publishing, as Editorial Assistant. She eventually became the fashion editor for one of the company's publications, reFRESH magazine, but after a year, bored with jetting about Europe to write reviews on five-star hotels and restaurants and attending lavish PR parties, (read: end of work permit in the UK), she returned to Australia and shortly thereafter started with The Canberra Times.

What can be said about Mils that hasn’t already been said in a court of law…? You’ll find Mils spending his spare time recovering from the burdens of daily existence in therapy, watching re-runs of Keeping up with the Kardashians, and at shop-a-holics anonymous meetings. Originally from Sydney, where he worked in entertainment advertising, he retreated to Canberra for a “quieter life” and to pursue his dream of working in publishing. His life ambition is to become Lady Gaga’s BFF. J'veux ton amour. Et je veux ton revenge. J'veux ton amour. I don't wanna be friends…

MARK SAWA
Editorial
Mark grew up on the North Coast of NSW where he attended a high school surrounded by graveyards and overrun with fruit bats. A failed seeker that hangs out in seedy pubs with low-brow friends, he is usually seen hunched over the bar staring blankly ahead. He is known for his ultra-conservative views on neckties and utilising former Prime Minister John Howard to win a bet for two slabs of beer. An ANU graduate with an honours degree in philosophy he fell into journalism after realising he was virtually unemployable. He has since worked as a journalist in the ACT, NSW and Victoria.
JONI SCANLON
Editorial
Mild-mannered Joni Scanlon is a writer by day, a loving friend and partner and is never without a book. She is passionately attempting to become a wine aficionado, and believes her life would be complete if only she could just get a puppy.
Joni has grown to love Canberra, except for the three months of winter when she vehemently swears she is moving somewhere warmer.
Born and raised on the Mid-North Coast, she left home and ventured into the big bad world of journalism studies at Charles Sturt University. After completing her degree she dabbled in the world of radio broadcasting, before finding her footing in print, managing and writer for a number of Canberra Times’ magazines.
LOUISE IRWIN
Editorial
Growing up on the land made Lou pretty tough. It may have been the hour upon hour of talking to no one but the animals, cow patty fights as the sun went down, or even the countless attempts of stopping the cows being sent to ‘a better place’ – to no avail.
From the get-go, she wasn’t too afraid of being in the limelight. It probably began at the dusty Dungog Showgrounds back in 1998. Let’s just say, there wasn’t much she wouldn’t do to prove that she and her trusty steed should have won that damn competition. Even if it called for a teeny tantrum. So years on, it would be fair to assume that stumbling into a career in Journalism was not a bad idea. After starting at the Canberra Times in 2009, Lou has conquered fears, cried a few tears and become even more determined to make a difference, somewhere, somehow.
MELANIE CLARK
Editorial
After leaving her dull public service job, the recent graduate from the University of Canberra has recently joined the creative team. The born and bred Canberran has an interest in fashion and hopes to enter the magazine industry. She classes the mail man as one of her best friends, thanks to her online shopping addiction and numerous magazine subscriptions and she really does like sunsets and long walks on the beach. Being the youngest, shortest and quietest member, she is often mistaken for a 16-year-old, but she doesn’t mind as she is optimistic this will work in her favour one day.

Fiona is the person who pulls all the advertising together. She loves getting to know everyone around the city, and can often be spotted in cafes around the area 'consulting with clients'. "It's a tough job when I think of my colleagues stuck back at the office, but the job must be done, and I do like to support the city's cafes whenever I can" she said. Fiona has a passion for fashion and has to discipline herself not to be sidetracked by the lures of Canberra's many fashion stores (not always successfully). She loves to sell In The City as it is such a great product, and brings great results for her clients.
